Senior Lecturer in Guidance and Youth Studies and course leader for MA / PG Cert Career Development and Careers Leaders Training Programme.

Jo is a Senior Lecturer within the Department. Prior to joining the University in 2004 she worked for Career and Connexions Services as a guidance practitioner and 14-19 Development Manager with a specific interest in career education, information, advice and guidance. During her practice, Jo was seconded to Leaving Care Services where she co-ordinated projects to improve the employability and progression of care leavers. She headed up a number of operational teams and project managed the introduction of Connexions Personal Advisers into schools and colleges, and the development of the career education curricula within learning institutions. Jo teaches on a number of programmes within the division to undergraduate and postgraduate students and professional practitioners. She co-ordinates placements for postgraduate students and works closely with employers to ensure that students have the opportunities to apply their learning in practice. Her areas of interest include career development and the interface between theory and practice. She is currently investigating the impact of assessment feedback methods on motivation and progression in learning.
