Role

Kate Mawson has significant teaching experience across a range of institutions including schools and Russell Group universities. Kate is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a founding fellow of the Chartered Institute of Teaching. Kate is also a published author in the field of increasing pupil literacy in science, adaptive teaching, and doctoral supervision. Her research is focused on the identities of researching practitioners and practitioner research as a methodological approach.

Kate is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Innovation in Education and identifies as a practitioner-researcher. Kate has co-edited Research Intelligence for the British Education Research Association and has invitations to speak at international events focussing on writing for dissemination and close-to-practice research. Much of Kate’s professional activity is linked to the professional development of teaching focused staff in HEIs and engaging practitioners in and with educational research.
