Role

Katie Willshire is an ITT lecturer in the Nottingham Institute of Education. She works across the Primary and Secondary education phases. She is also the Nottingham Institute of Education’s Mentor Development Lead.

Career overview

Katie joined NTU in 2019 as an English Lecturer on the Secondary PGCE Course. Before this, she was an English teacher of ten years in local secondary schools, including a seven-year leadership role at Fernwood School in Wollaton. She has a longstanding passion for curriculum design and mentoring developing teachers.

As an English specialist, Katie is particularly interested in promoting reading for pleasure and advancing the use of research-informed pedagogy in teaching writing in schools.

In her role as NIoE Mentor Development Lead, Katie is invested in supporting and guiding mentors, and she oversees the Mentor Accreditation programme, which recognises the valuable contribution that mentors make to ITE.

Katie is a Fellow of Advanced HE.
