Dr Thais Sardá is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the Year 1 Tutor for the BA (Hons) Criminology. Her research interests are related to the impact of new technologies and the media on criminological issues. In addition to her research activities as a member of Critical Criminology and Social Justice Research group, Dr Sardá is the module leader for the Media & Crime module. She also teaches the Constructing Crime module.

Career overview

Before starting her position at NTU, Dr Thais Sardá was a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the TECHNGI Project at the School of Business and Economics of Loughborough University, researching artificial intelligence and the insurance industry. She holds a PhD in Media Studies (Loughborough University), a masters' degree in Information, Social Networks and Technology (UFRGS, Brazil), a bachelor degree in Social Communication and Journalism (UFRGS, Brazil), a post-graduate degree in Criminology (PUCRS, Brazil), and an MBA in People Management (FGV, Brazil). Moreover, she has a background working as a professional journalist (newspaper and online news) and with advertising (social media, BI and PR).
