Role
Jack joined NTU in 2022, working successfully as lead performance coach for a year before taking over as Head of Field Hockey. Overseeing all twelve teams that compete in BUCS and eight in weekend competition, Jack primarily leads both performance programmes which includes coaching in the BUCS National League and recruitment both here in the UK and Internationally. As well as the on-field performances of all teams, club development, providing students with links all over the world to compete at the highest level. Jack has put a real focus on the development of the athletes at all levels of the club ensuring the highest of standards throughout the hockey environment. Most recently, Jack is responsible for leading the Hockey club to its most successfully year ever regarding titles and BUCS points and the development of a brand-new hockey facility one of the first of its kind in Europe.
Career overview
Jack graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2023 earning a first-class undergraduate degree and masters in Sports Coaching and Pedagogy, with a particular focus on coaching and talent development. Jack has had a successful playing and coaching career at club, university, national and international levels prior to joining NTU. Representation for Wales, multiple European titles, and medals in both indoor and outdoor competitions among his achievements. Since arriving at NTU, Jack has had several standout achievements including the highest BUCS National League placing, a BUCS National Vase title and multiple midlands titles. He has worked in roles across the whole hockey club to ensure performance success throughout.
External activity
Jack previously worked in both the England and Wales Hockey Pathways coaching juniors of all ages at regional and national levels. He also previously spent 2 years as a lead coach of university BUCS team whilst a student at Cardiff Met and several junior teams at the hockey club. Jack has coaching qualifications in 5 sports and has experiences of coaching within multiple environments whilst at university.
