Become part of the next generation of leaders with our Black Leadership Programme
Published: 30/09/2024
The Black Leadership Programme (BLP) empowers second-year undergraduate students of Black heritage, helping them to build confidence and develop their leadership qualities.

What is the BLP?
The BLP is a collaboration between Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and Nottingham Trent Students’ Union (NTSU). It offers second-year Black heritage students the opportunity to connect and upskill through themes of community, leadership and empowerment. Black heritage refers to the rich and diverse history, culture, and experiences of people of African and Caribbean descent, including those with mixed heritage.
Successful applicants will gain access to:
- Safe spaces to be seen and heard.
- The opportunity to make meaningful connections and have open conversations.
- A launch event where you'll meet fellow participants, external leaders, and session facilitators.
- A range of personal and professional development workshops.
- Opportunities to network with peers, leaders, and employers.
- Mentorship from a Black professional in industry.
- Employability modules and skills workshops.
- A final celebration event and a letter of achievement from the Vice-Chancellor.
Plus, your participation will be recognised on the Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR), which records your achievements during your time at NTU.
“It's an opportunity to invest in yourself, connect with your community, and become the leader you were always meant to be. Let's rewrite our narrative and empower the next generation of Black leaders.”
Chad Thompson, previous BLP participant.
