Nottingham named as a vibrant and safe night out

Published: 27/03/2025

The city has been given Purple Flag status for the 15th consecutive year to reflect the diversity, vibrancy and safety of a night out in Nottingham.

The Purple Flag is an internationally recognised accreditation. It recognises the ongoing commitment of organisations across our city to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors who are out in Nottingham, enjoying its many dining, entertainment and cultural venues.

You can read more about it on the It’s in Nottingham website.

Security at NTU

We want to make sure you feel safe and secure whilst you're out and about in Nottingham, and when you are on NTU's campuses.

Our Security team operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on all campuses. You can find out how they can help you, and how to contact them, on StudentHub.

Safe taxis scheme

If you've run out of cash and can't get home safe, then we've got you covered. Our safe taxis scheme, in partnership with Nottingham Cars, will get you home and you can pay at a later date.

Safe places

Our City, Clifton and Brackenhurst campuses all have safe places that are staffed by NTU Security and Wardens. You can find the locations and opening times on StudentHub.

Dedicated University Police team

In partnership with Nottinghamshire Police, we also have a dedicated University Police team to provide reassurance and keep you safe. Find out how they can help you on our website.
