Event details

This year marks 200 years since Byron's death.  He drew inspiration from many sources including it seems the sky itself. But is this just a myth or can we really track down how the sky looked and possibly inspired this major figure in the romantic movement.

Several literary pieces as well as the ghost story challenge - creating the starting point for many beloved gothic horror stories - are linked in some way to the sky or how it appeared. At least that is what the authors want us to believe. But astronomical simulations can help us to retrace how the sky looked. They allow us to capture an instance in how celestial actors such as the Moon or Jupiter may wander the skies to then perform above a landscape. Join Dr Daniel Brown (NTU) in his talk Byron and the Sky - Simulating Skyscapes, where we explore how to recreate inspirational moments in the sky related to Byron and how they come together to involve everything including us as the viewer to form skyscapes.

Booking is required for this event while attending in person.
