This monthly open mic night brings together words and music from students, staff and the public, with special guests each month from the region's spoken word and music scenes. Our featured artist is rapper JayaHadADream.

Join us at Nottingham Contemporary for our regular open mic event, celebrating words and music. Relaxed and friendly, come and show your support for all the talented performers. Hosted by NTU Arts, you can expect new and established artists, early evening energy and a warm welcome.

Featured artist – rapper JayaHadADream
Rapper Jaya joins us for our first creative café this term. Hip Hop artist JayaHadADream is the winner of the 2024 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Award. Her stylish swagger and lyricism won praise from judges including Emily Eavis, industry professionals and BBC 6Music's Huw Stephens. Cambridge-born, with Jamaican-Irish heritage, since 2018 Jaya has also been lending her creative energy to studying Education in Nottingham. This is a performer with passion and depth, with plenty to say about the world we have, and the world we could have.

If you'd like an open mic slot just let us know when you book. We welcome all performers including singer songwriters, spoken word artists, story-tellers or actors.

Nottingham Contemporary is one of the largest contemporary art galleries in the UK, presenting free exhibitions, special events, and family activities. This event takes place in their café space, Blend.
