Event details
The Moon is our only solar system body we have ever set foot on. But we never stayed longer or even built a base on its surface. Why? What material would we need?
Our society is more and more interested in off-world living. Especially now, when commercial entities are regularly accessing the Moon. But it needs to be cost-effective, sustainable, and practical. Many solutions exist, with varying benefits and limitations for use in on the Moon or Mars.
Join Dr Ed Breeds (NTU) who analyses lunar regolith simulant in building materials, exploring building chemistry and strength characteristics. In his short talk Lunar Concrete - Off-world building using extra-terrestrial materials he will explore lunar concrete as a building material, focusing on requirements, challenges, and current developments, expanding to practicable off-world building solutions for the future.
Booking is required for this event while attending in person. While attending, you consent to filming, photography, and sound recording – which may include you as a member of the audience – and its use in publication or advertising distribution, either printed or online, without payment or copyright.
