students at city global lounge for language cafe
Workshops

Learn or practise a language in a friendly environment. All languages and levels are welcome, including English.

Event details

Do you want to practise a language you speak or learn a new language?

Global Lounges' weekly Language Café is open to all students who want to practise languages in a relaxed setting with other students and staff.

How does it work?

We will create different language tables each week based on the students' interests. There will usually be a volunteer who is a native, fluent, or advanced speaker of that language at the table to help lead the conversations and activities.

All languages and levels of ability are welcome. You can join for half an hour, or the full two hours, and you’re welcome to switch between language tables.

Want to volunteer for the Language Café?

Are you a native, fluent, or advanced speaker of another language? You could become a Language Café Volunteer to help lead the language tables. All you need to do is sign up at the Global Lounge and we’ll talk you through the process.

Your contribution could be recorded on your HEAR report (if you’re an undergraduate student) and the Global Employability Award.
