It explores the historical roots of welfare dilemmas that are currently constructed in presentist terms and asks what lessons history might hold for the future (if there is one) of the British welfare system.

Jim will explain his motivations for moving from banking into academia and how that happened. Jim will relate his research interests to his prior experiences and provide an insight into some of his main research themes.
