Head of Construction Management wins Achiever of the Year at Constructing Excellence Awards
Dr Amrit Sagoo, Head of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying at Nottingham Trent University, was recognised for his work on two 'hugely important' initiatives by the Constructing Excellence Midlands Board and sponsors GT3 Architects.
The Constructing Excellence Midlands awards are recognised across the East Midlands built environment as an important showcase of best practice.
The awards are a representation of the desire and commitment to deliver collaborative and sustainable practice in the construction of buildings, housing, infrastructure, and facilities of all kinds.
Dr Sagoo was commended for leading on two influential initiatives that are expected to be significant milestones in the industry’s roadmap to recovery.
The Construction Clients Best Practice Guide update and the Diploma in Collaboration in Construction both help to set out how clients and construction professionals should behave to ensure a collaborative culture, integrated supply chains and successful project delivery.
The Best Practice Guide outlines a 13-step process from pre-tender through to post-tender. Dr Sagoo co-authored steps 1-4, which detail the pre-tender stage, highlighting the assessment of client needs, type of project, procurements strategies and market engagement.
The Diploma is a 12-month online course delivered by Constructing Excellence Midlands. The course focuses on a range of key topics ranging from leadership and team management, to design team integration, smart construction, and supply chain management.
Nottingham Trent University and the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment were celebrated for offering maximum support for both projects.
Described as an inspired leader in Higher Education, a global figure and well respected in the wider construction industry, Dr Sagoo felt privileged to receive the accolade.
