Wild Isles film project for students
Are you a short film maker? Do you want to collaborate with music students and one of the UK's leading orchestras?
Create a short film inspired by David Attenborough's 'Wild Isles' and see it set to music and performed by players from the BBC Concert Orchestra

We've got a fantastic opportunity for NTU students with an interest in film creation, to work on a project with the BBC Concert Orchestra and composition students from the University of Nottingham (UoN).
Inspired by Sir David Attenborough's Wild Isles landmark nature series, we're challenging NTU students to create a short film (up to 3 minutes long) exploring themes of nature and sustainability.
Selected films will be scored by UoN students and performed live at Lakeside Arts by musicians from the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Project details
We're challenging NTU students to create a short film inspired by the BBC's Wild Isles series. Following submission, a selection panel featuring representatives from both universities and the BBC Concert Orchestra will select a number of the films to be scored by UoN music composition students.
The scores will be recorded in the studios at Metronome, and then performed live by players from the BBC Concert Orchestra to a public audience at UoN's Lakeside Arts in March 2024.
Create a short film inspired by themes from Wild Isles – we are particularly interested to see films featuring the city/region, though this is not essential.
You can create something brand new, or submit existing work that meets the criteria above. The medium can be film, animation, live action, documentary filmmaking, or screen art.
Your film must be submitted as a short documentary film – ideally 90 seconds in length, but no more than 3 minutes long. You must include a title and basic credits and it should be 25 frames per second (FPS) in MP4 format, compressed using H264 codec, 1920 pixels wide by 1080 high.
This project is open to all NTU and Confetti HE students.
Expressions of interest should be sent to Anne Adams by Friday 6 October 2023.
Completed films must be submitted by Monday 4 December 2023.
