Volunteering Opportunities
We work with our communities to address challenges that affect people and places in Nottinghamshire. Browse our five themes below to discover volunteering opportunities that make a real-life impact on the key societal issues you care about most.
There are additional opportunities available in the NTU Sport Volunteering programme, offering students the chance to transform lives through the power of sport. Explore these opportunities on the NTU Sport Volunteering website.

Health and wellbeing
NTU is interested in improving health and wellbeing, supporting the city in its commitment to reduce health inequalities across Nottingham. As an NTU volunteer, you can work towards tackling the growing impact of issues such as loneliness, mental and physical ill health, and homelessness.
Arts, Sport and Culture
NTU has a rich and diverse range of arts, cultural and sporting activities taking place for staff and students all year round. NTU volunteers can take this interest and contribute towards local organisations’ work in and around heritage, arts, creative industries, design, and sporting excellence.
Crime and Justice
NTU is supporting Nottingham in its commitment to making society safer and working towards reducing crime and anti-social behaviour. Working to support local organisations, NTU volunteers can get involved in areas such as witness support, youth justice, or challenging knife crime.
Education and Attainment
Education and learning is at the heart of NTU. It’s also at the heart of the city to ensure all young people achieve their full potential. NTU volunteers can contribute to local education through supporting literacy, numeracy, or disadvantaged learners.
Environmental and Sustainable Futures
NTU is one of the most sustainable universities in the world. We have a responsibility to work towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals to effect change. NTU volunteers can work with local communities to support their environmental agendas to create a local and global impact.

Volunteering while in university provided a unique chance for me to help people and gain the essential experience that would enable me to pursue a career dedicated to creating change. I truly believe that each one of us possesses the ability to bring about change through voluntary acts of kindness, regardless of the specific ways in which we choose to do so.
