NTU Music scholarships for Bursary Holders

If you're eligible for an NTU Bursary in 2021/22 apply for one of our Making Music or Public Speaking Scholarships.

  • Making Music Scholarship – learn to sing or play an instrument

    This scholarship provides you with paid vocal or instrumental tuition from one of our experienced teachers. You don't need to have previous experience – just a passion for making music!

    Make sure you apply before the deadline, 11.59 pm on Sunday 10 October 2021.

    What will I get?

    You'll receive 24 lessons of 30 minutes during term time, for the 2021/22 academic year. We'll also provide you with an instrument (where applicable, subject to availability). All lessons are taught at the NTU Music Centre on City Campus, or virtually if required.

    Choose from the following instruments (subject to availability):

    • voice
    • piano
    • drum kit
    • percussion including Mallets (marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone) and timpani
    • guitar including acoustic, electric and bass
    • brass including cornet, tenor horn, french horn, euphonium, trombone, tuba
    • woodwind including flute, piccolo, clarinet, soprano saxophone and tenor saxophone
    • strings including violin, cello and double bass

    If you own an instrument that isn’t listed above, we may still be able to offer you tuition. Email music@ntu.ac.uk to find out more.

  • Public Speaking Scholarship

    This scholarship provides you with public speaking lessons from one of our professional coaches. You’ll learn how to express yourself confidently through spoken communication and develop future-proof skills that will benefit you in all areas of life – from social situations to interviews and future employment.

    Make sure you apply before the deadline, 11.59 pm on Sunday 10 October 2021.

    What will I get?

    You'll receive 24 public speaking lessons of 30 minutes during term time, for the 2021/22 academic year. All lessons are taught at the NTU Music Centre on City Campus, or virtually if required.

    You’ll also have the opportunity to gain a qualification in public speaking by working towards LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) graded exams in communication.

Am I eligible to apply?

You can apply for either a Making Music or Public Speaking Scholarship, but not both.

You can apply for this scholarship if:

  • You are currently in receipt of an NTU Bursary
  • You are not eligible to apply for our NTU Music Scholarship
  • You are not applying for the Public Speaking Scholarship

You can apply for this scholarship if:

  • You are currently in receipt of an NTU Bursary
  • You are not applying for the Making Music Scholarship

The deadline to apply for either scholarship is 11.59 pm on Sunday 10 October 2021.

All candidates who apply before the deadline will be assessed on the strength of their application, and for the Making Music Scholarship on your choice of instrument, experience and statement. Successful students will be contacted as quickly as possible after the deadline.
