Introduction:

Please note: This course is delivered through the Enterprising Ashfield project, which is funded by the Government's Towns Fund. Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is pleased to offer free (fully funded) places on this course to support individuals and employees of businesses that are based in the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The standard fee would normally be £495.

Social media has become an essential tool for marketing, and has made businesses more visible than ever.

Get up-to-speed with the essentials of digital marketing and learn how to get the most out of social media by developing your marketing campaign, build your own digital strategy, and get simple tips on how to make your plan come to life.

You'll learn how to create awareness for your brand, reach new audiences, and increase engagement.

You'll also discover how to create engaging content; from visuals and short videos to writing stand-out captions.

This course is for anyone interested in developing their skills in social media for business; whether you're already working in a business, preparing to enter the workplace, or looking to change careers.

It's ideal for anyone looking to update their digital skills and understand how to successfully create a digital marketing strategy.

With a limited number of places on the course, you'll have the one-to-one attention you need to ensure you leave with the skills to continue developing your skills at home or work.

What you’ll study

This course will provide you with an understanding of how the main social media platforms work; from Facebook to Twitter, and from Instagram to LinkedIn, you'll consider how to create a digital and social media strategy.

You'll learn how to use the most popular social media channels and how to stand out from the crowd to make those all-important sales.

During this course you will:

  • research your target market and ideal customers, considering how to attract new audiences
  • create visuals and videos for social media and learn how to format them for ideal viewing
  • learn to edit photos for social media and apply effects and text
  • practice how to tell your story and engage customers on social media
  • look at examples of effective use of social media
  • understand how advertising on social media can boost sales and enquiries
  • learn how to monitor your efforts through social media and Google Analytics.

It's delivered through classroom activities, real-life examples and group discussions.

What will you gain?

By the end of the course, you'll be confident in using social media and understand how it all fits together with your digital marketing strategy.

You'll leave with the confidence to nurture your existing customers, find new ones, execute a social media strategy, and measure it's impact.

You'll also receive a certificate of attendance when you complete the course which is a great way to enhance your CV.

Tutor profiles: Debbie Clarke

Debbie Clarke is an award-winning business coach and lecturer.

She has coached hundreds of creative entrepreneurs on strategy and marketing and teaches digital marketing on the postgraduate programmes at NTU.

Debbie marries marketing know-how with mindset training to help clients create businesses that work around their lives. This is a big part of her ethos; creating a business that works for you.

She’s been featured in Forbes Magazine for her approach to business and had launched several business networks and businesses over the years including Heard Media digital agency and the Growth CoLab.

She is the co-founder of the My Way Project, a social enterprise delivering workshops, the Blue Stockings Society (a networking group for women) and has been a business coach and consultant helping businesses to reach their full potential.

Entry requirements

No social media experience is required, although you must be confident in using basic computer and smartphone functions.
