Introduction:

Please note: This course is delivered through the Enterprising Ashfield project, which is funded by the Government's Towns Fund. Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is pleased to offer free (fully funded) places on this course to support individuals and employees of businesses that are based in the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The standard fee would normally be £295.

On this course you will learn the essential skills to run successful events, conferences, and product launches.

It’s an ideal introduction for anyone curious about events; whether you’re planning an event at work, preparing to enter the workplace, or looking to change careers.

With a limited number of places on the course, you'll have the one-to-one attention you need to ensure you leave with the skills to continue developing your skills at home or work.

What you’ll study

What you'll study:

This course will give you an insight into the world of events and inspire you with the confidence to execute events successfully.

During this course you will cover the following topics:

  • event language and commonly used terminology: a look at the most used phrases and language in the event world to help understand how event professionals conduct themselves in their day-to-day activities.
  • event professionals: consider the different career options in events from Venue Finders to Full-Service Event Planners and more specialised areas - including Weddings, Team Building and Corporate Hospitality.
  • event types and formats: from awards ceremonies to training and symposiums, you’ll look at the wide range of events taking place locally, nationally, and internationally every day.
  • timelines and planning essentials: look at the schedule event professionals need to adopt to successfully deliver events and the key stages that are needed. You will look at examples of amazing events where the planning clearly paid off and some not so successful events, where a failure in the planning lead to a disastrous delivery.
  • maintaining an education in events: the fun side of the event industry is familiarisation and educational trips, keeping up to date with an ever-evolving industry and new hotels and venues.
  •

What will I gain?

By the end of the course you’ll have gained an understanding of the process in planning events in a variety of settings and the knowledge of what a profession in events can entail.

You will have also developed the skills needed to complete the Event Planning and Management course afterwards, to confidently plan and deliver an event to a professional standard.

You’ll also receive a certificate of attendance when you complete the course, which is a great way to enhance your CV.
