Introduction:

AI is moving fast, but many organisations still struggle to turn ambition into measurable results. This microcredential is built for leaders and SME directors who want to turn AI into measurable business transformation – and reclaim time in the process – without needing to code or build models.

Across three intensive days, you’ll cut through the noise around AI and Generative AI, learn what works in real organisations, and see practical examples of how leaders use AI to do more in less time. You’ll explore real SME case studies, identify high-impact opportunities, and take a hands-on approach to implementation through simple agent building, workflow automation, and rapid experimentation methods such as A/B testing.

You’ll learn how to automate low-value tasks so teams can focus on the work that truly drives growth, and how to measure impact, manage risk, and scale what works. You’ll leave with a clear AI adoption and scaling roadmap tailored to your organisation.

  • Upon successful completion of the course you will gain 10 credits which can be built towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership and Management Practice.
  • Hands-on implementation – using practical frameworks and canvases to de-risk AI decisions and turn strategy into a roadmap, you’ll build practical GenAI workflows, simple agents and automations you can take back and adapt to your organisation.
  • Real SME case studies – learn what works (and what doesn’t) through examples from SMEs that have successfully adopted AI with support from our Centre for Business and Industry Transformation.
  • Immediate takeaways you can implement to improve efficiency and productivity – discover how to automate low-value tasks so teams can focus on growth, and leave with a clear AI adoption and scaling roadmap.

How you’re taught

This course is delivered in person over 3 full days from 2–4 June, followed by a 2-hour online drop-in session on 18 June. Teaching combines short expert-led inputs, live demonstrations, real SME case studies, facilitated discussion and hands-on implementation activities, all focused on helping delegates lead AI-driven business transformation in their organisations.

Delegates will be taught how to use the latest AI and Generative AI technologies to drive practical business transformation. This includes identifying transformation opportunities across operations and workflows, automating low-value tasks, an introduction to AI agent building and workflow automation, testing new ideas and services through A/B testing, and building a clear AI adoption and scaling roadmap to support growth, efficiency, and better use of leadership and team time.

As this is a 10-credit postgraduate level 7 course you will complete an assignment. Once successfully completed, the 10 credits at level 7 can be used to build towards our Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership and Management Practice.

Who will teach you

Georgi Iliev leads the delivery of this microcredential. Co-founder of the Centre for Business and Industry Transformation (CBIT) and Head of the award-winning CBIT Venture Builder, Georgi is a fellow at PerplexityAI, a certified Base44 educator, and official partner of the Make Academic Alliance. He is also an ambassador and regional partner for leading AI solution providers including Base44, Make, Lovable, MathWorks, Siemens and others. Georgi is the founder and host of the UK’s flagship 'Transforming SMEs with AI' conference, delivered with Innovate UK Business Connect. He works directly with SMEs as an AI transformation and AI adoption advisor, helping leadership teams turn AI ambition into practical outcomes.

He doesn’t teach AI as a concept, he teaches what works in the real world. His work includes supporting an Innovate UK funded programme that helped an SME move from manual, time-heavy processes to an AI-enabled operating model using practical GenAI workflows, automation, and adoption roadmaps that leadership teams can execute. He has also supported AI-driven transformation across sectors such as manufacturing, supply chain and agritech, including advisory contributions to large funded programmes involving AI implementation and digital twin strategy.

Georgi also delivers AI training for SMEs internationally, typically through government-led initiatives designed to accelerate productivity and innovation. These programmes bring together senior leaders across sectors, and Georgi’s role is to help them move quickly from awareness to implementation with practical, responsible AI adoption and measurable outcomes.
