Statement of Public Task

Clifton library at night

This statement sets out the functions of the library at Nottingham Trent University that are within the library’s public task under the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015.

This statement was created in November 2015 and is subject to periodic review to ensure that it reflects good practice and remains consistent with the Regulations.

The public task of the library is articulated by its mission:

'At the heart of the university, we inspire and enable independent learning and research. We actively engage with our customers and make a difference by enhancing abilities and potential. We have the expertise and resources to encourage depth and breadth of creative thinking. We create an inspiring physical and on-line environment for learning and research, informed by analysis of evidence-based best practice and our own innovation – the service to go to for help, advice and support.'

The library undertakes digitisation and facilitates re-use wherever copyright law, data protection, licensing and the availability of funding will permit this. The library does not have a dedicated budget for digitisation, so is reliant on charging fees for the digitisation, supply and licensing of content in order to meet its costs.
