It runs every year from July to September and is a late application opportunity for people looking to start University in September.

When you have your results, you can apply. You can’t reserve a place in Clearing until you get your results. Most people apply immediately after A-level results are published.

Reasons to choose NTU

What is Clearing?

This short video explains the Clearing process — from the first to the final steps of your application.

What is Clearing?

Clearing is your chance to apply for an undergraduate course if:

  • You haven't got a place at your firm or insurance choice.
  • You've changed your mind about what or where you want to study.
  • You haven't yet applied, or you've done better than expected and want to explore new opportunities.

So how to apply?

Clearing vacancies are advertised on university websites and on UCAS.

To apply, you'll need: Your results, including GCSEs or equivalent.

Your full contact details, including address, telephone and email, and your UCAS ID number.

You'll find this in your emails from UCAS.

Clearing applications are typically made by phone and most universities have a dedicated Clearing number to call.

All universities are different, and offers can be made in many ways.

Our advice is always the same.

Phone the university or college first, especially if your circumstances are a little more complex or if it's not clear if there are places available.

What happens when you get a Clearing offer?

You may receive multiple offers, but you can only accept one.

Research the course and the university in detail before you choose what's right for you.

Once you've decided, go to UCAS and select ‘Add Clearing Choice’ and enter the details of your course.

Once a university has checked your application and confirmed your place,

it will show as an acceptance on your choices page in UCAS.

This process can move quickly, but you shouldn't rush your decision.

Uni will be your new home away from home and research is extremely important.

Take a virtual tour, attend an open day, or campus tour, review the course content and chat with staff and students to ensure you have found your perfect university.
