Behavioural Impact Research on Decision-Making Laboratory (BIRD)

Unit(s) of assessment: Business and Management Studies

School: Nottingham Business School

Overview

The Behavioural Impact Research on Decision-Making (BIRD) is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to social science experiments.

The BIRD lab is at the heart of the research activities of the Behavioural Economics Applied Research unit (BEAR). We welcome researchers from any discipline (e.g., economics, business, management, finance, psychology, sociology, politics), including those outside of academia, such as professionals in consultancy and other sectors, interested in using experimental methods to enhance our understanding of human behaviour and decision-making.

The BIRD lab houses 31 computers and 20 additional tablets. We can conduct experiments in the lab, in the field, and online.

Previous experiments have examined different research topics:

  • How willingness to help others moderates vaccine risk aversion
  • Drivers of corruption in public procurement
  • The determinants of household demand for energy consumption.

Any NTU student and staff member can register to participate in lab and online experiments.

By participating in experiments, you will not only contribute to cutting-edge research projects but also get paid for your time.
