Description

In line with his Ph.D. thesis, Daniel's research activity comprises the semi-automatic creation of as-built Historic Building Information Models (HBIM) based on 3D scanning data of architectural, archaeological, and cultural heritage assets. This method represents the real conservation status of those assets, thus enabling a variety of precise analyses that contribute to the study, management, and conservation of heritage. Furthermore, Daniel implements immersive digital technologies and develops animation videos of heritage assets for dissemination. Likewise, he investigates the implementation of 3D point cloud data processing software and infrared thermography to represent the thermal behaviour of buildings as 3D thermal data for accurate energy loss analysis. Daniel also researches teaching methods based on digital technologies to enable innovation and critical thinking in students.

Daniel Antón has achieved multiple publications such as Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) articles, Q1 Scholarly Publishers Indicators (SPI) book chapters, as well as presentations at international conferences, plus other dissemination activities. Daniel has participated in national and international R&D projects and achieved grants for contracts and research periods abroad. Besides, he has reviewed numerous scientific articles for high-impact journals, conferences, and book chapters, as well as R&D projects on the implementation of Building Information Modelling and 3D scanning into heritage and infrastructure. Daniel Antón is also a member of scientific committees of international conferences and the editorial board of JCR and DOAJ international journals.
