Susan is the Course Leader of the International Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA). She lectures at postgraduate, corporate and professional levels across the suite of programmes delivered both in the UK and abroad. Her broad teaching interests include organisational behaviour and human resource management, with specialisms in identity, talent management and global mobility. As an interpretivist researcher, she also publishes in these fields.

Susan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), a member of the British Universities Industrial Relations Association (BUIRA) and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

Career overview

Susan has considerable module leadership at undergraduate, postgraduate and corporate levels. She also has significant course leadership experience having formerly been the course leader for the Certificate in Management, the Certificate in Personnel Practice, the MSc in Strategic Human Resource Management and now the International Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA).

She has worked in a quality assurance role for most of her career including being responsible for quality assurance in franchise colleges and international collaborating partners and for the past 6 years she was the Divisional Quality Representative for the Human Resource Management Division.

Research areas

Susan is research active and has a number of publications. She recently co-authored chapters in a thematic HRM book and in an international HRM text and has been actively involved in the publication of three HRM Divisional texts. She has publications in the field of talent management, global mobility and identity.

External activity

Susan has considerable consultancy experience working with a diverse range of different clients including: Nottingham Probation Service, the National Health Service and West Pharmaceuticals. She has been an external examiner for the CIPD suite of programmes at Staffordshire University and was a member of the panel for their five-year validation.

She acted as external advisor to Gloucestershire University in respect of their validation of their integrated MBA programme and is currently an external examiner for Anglia Ruskin University. She is retained as an independent advisor to Westminster Bridge Partnership, an organisation providing strategic public affairs advice and advocacy for mutual organisations.
