Lecturer

Nottingham School of Art & Design

Role

I teach on the BA Filmmaking course, where I specialise in screenwriting. In this role, I guide students through the process of developing original scripts, focusing on story structure, character development, and effective dialogue. I aim to equip aspiring filmmakers with the practical and creative skills needed to translate ideas into compelling screenplays, while also fostering a deep understanding of film theory and storytelling techniques.

I also module lead and teach on the FdSc Film Production Technology course, covering topics including the Evolution of film, Industry practice, Exhibition, and Non-fiction. I draw on my expertise in pre-production and film theory to deliver engaging and practical learning experiences, while also playing an active role in supporting students’ career development and fostering their growth as emerging filmmakers.

Career overview

I have over 16 years of experience as a freelancer working across film, events, promotions, and documentary production. Throughout my career, I have produced and directed numerous short films. My expertise lies in pre-production and concept development, though I also have a strong passion for teaching theory. In addition to my creative work, I am an experienced 1st Assistant Director and an enthusiastic screenwriter, having contributed to a feature film currently submitted to multiple festivals. I hold a master’s degree in writing for Script and Screen.

  • Previously taught and lead multiple modules on BSc/FdSc TV Production Technology.

I am also the course leader for BSc Film Production Technology (teach out completion for 2026).
