Role
Course Leader and Senior Lecturer in BSc Esports Production, Gin Rai is an interdisciplinary lecturer, teaching a range of broadcast technologies and specialising in 2D and 3D graphics. His academic and creative interests lie in the intricate and innovative usage of technologies for storytelling, performance, and entertainment products.
Career overview
Gin Rai is a digital technologist with a background in 2D and 3D graphics, animation, game design, cinematography and photography.
Having started his education journey in 2009 developing further education courses in Games Technology and Games Art, he moved on to co-create a suite of higher education, Foundation and Batchelor degrees with both DeMontfort University and now Nottingham Trent University. These degrees spanned FdSc, FdA, BSc, BA and MSc programmes in the fields of Games Production, Games Art, Creative Media Production and Virtual Production.
His most recent development has been the internationally recognised BSc Esports Production degree launched in 2019, which has provided the foundations for many successful graduates working globally with the biggest esports production and broadcast production organisations today.

In 2024 Gin developed an MoU between Nottingham Trent University and Hanshin University of South Korea, to nurture cross-cultural knowledge, understanding and implementation of research in esports. This was initialised through co-curating and attending the inaugural Esports International Conference in South Korea.
