Role

Kyle graduated MA in Creative Technologies in 2020 and joined NTU after a decade teaching Games Design to Further Education students. He has been organising esports competitions since 2012, has done freelance work for the British Esports Federation, National University Esports League, National Student Esports and others, and is a three-title winning Coach in the British Esports Student Championships. His specialism is in esports as a context, its history and ecosystem, and in the effective management of players and competitions.

Career overview

Kyle's Masters research focused on strategies to increase the recruitment of women and girls in videogames education and industry. This included the operation and promotion of women's & non-binary esports teams, focus groups and interviews assessing college course content and marketing, and delivered recommendations for a more inclusive approach to a traditionally male-dominated field.

Research areas

Kyle operates his own esports production company and has produced 200k+ viewer events for clients such as CCP Games' EVE Online. He also engages in quality assurance testing work for local games design companies including Modiphius, Mantic Games and River Horse.
