Role
Lauren Squires is the Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Graphic Design programme.
Key aspects of her role include supporting students, overseeing all levels of study, course management, the design and development of curriculum, and collaboration with industry partners.
As a Senior Lecturer, Lauren also teaches across all levels of the BA (Hons) Graphic Design course.
Career overview
Before joining NTU in 2024 Lauren taught at a variety of institutions and provided educational leadership to design and develop several creative courses at undergraduate level.
Alongside her educational career, Lauren is a freelance designer taking a multidisciplinary approach to her design practice. Lauren has exhibited in group shows across the UK and at London Fashion Week and has produced work for a variety of clients. Previous and current retailers include Selfridges, Dover Street Market, The V&A and ShowStudio. Lauren’s work has been featured in publications such as Dazed & Confused and British Vogue.
Research areas
Lauren’s research interests include:
- The development of creative pedagogies and curricula to explore the impact creative practitioners, industry collaboration and the process of ‘making’ can have on students learning and educational experiences.
- Design for social innovation and sustainable approaches to design and design thinking to explore how design practices communicate on contemporary issues.
- The typology of creative briefs within Higher Education art and design subjects to support and enhance student opportunities, learning and development.
