Role

As a lecturer in Events Management at NTU, Libby teach modules on Live Event Practice and Professional Opportunities. This involves designing and delivering engaging lectures, workshops and practical sessions that equip students with the skills, attributes and knowledge needed to thrive in the events industry.

She focuses on real-world and work-like examples, guiding students through the planning, execution and evaluation of live events. Through personal development modules, she mentors students on their career paths, helping them identify and pursue professional opportunities within the industry. Focusing on an encouragement and support with networking opportunities and reflection, ensuring they gain valuable insights and connections that inspire and prepare students to succeed in a dynamic and competitive industry.

Career overview

Before joining NTU, she spent 20 years in the events industry, working for venues and project/event managing small, medium and large-scale festivals in hospitality, food & drink, sporting, charitable, formal/ceremonial events, arts and brand activations. She has a full spectrum of experience working in the live event world that spans many different organisations and businesses – a variety of approaches and routes to executing high-profile events, curating exciting experiences and planning, managing, problem solving in the events world. She is extremely passionate about events, particularly those that have an arts, performance or community focus.

Currently, Libby works in event operations for an event supplier where she oversees the regional operational capacity for event delivery – working closely with standards and ever-changing industry guidance as well as nationally supporting the operations. This role allows her to stay connected with the industry and bring current, real-world insights into her teaching at NTU.

Research areas

Personal and professional development in line with safety and standards at events, particularly focused on medical provision and changes to guidance and law.
