Role
Shiloh Ragins is a Lecturer in 3D Digital Art with over five years of experience in games art production and more than four years of teaching in higher education. He has delivered teaching across modules on Games Art, Games Design, and Visual Effects courses, with a particular focus on modelling, texturing, look development, and rendering.
Shiloh’s teaching philosophy centres on ensuring students develop a clear understanding of the complete asset production workflow, from early planning through to final presentation. His approach emphasises precision, clarity, and attention to detail, supporting learners in building the professional standards expected within the creative industries.
Shiloh is committed to ongoing professional development. He completed a CG Master Academy course in Unreal Engine 5, earning a certificate for his work, and received the Games Academic Higher Education Award from Grads in Games in recognition of his contribution to student learning and teaching excellence.
Career overview
Alongside his academic role, Shiloh maintains an active freelance practice within the games and tabletop sectors. His freelance work includes contributing as a sculpting artist to Senjutsu: Battle for Japan, creating character sculpts and environmental props for the game. This ongoing practical experience keeps him closely aligned with current tools, collaborative workflows, and contemporary production standards.
Shiloh also has professional experience in 3D games art, including in‑game asset creation, modular environment design, PBR texturing, real‑time rendering, and broader 3D workflows. In addition, he has held the role of Associate Learning Designer at Nottingham Trent University, producing digital learning resources and interactive content to support high‑quality online curriculum delivery.
