Role

Catrin is a Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and also works on NTU's CELTA courses. She is a member of the team responsible for the In-sessional Academic English Language Support programmes at the university and the Co-ordinator for Academic English language support provision for the School of Science and Technology.

Career overview

Catrin has been involved in English Language teaching and training since leaving university and has worked throughout Europe (from Estonia to Italy, Poland to the UK). She has experience working in a variety of teaching contexts (1:1 & group; online, hybrid & face-to-face; adults & young learners; residential, in-company & in school, mono & multi-lingual classes), teaching different 'Englishes' (general, business, academic, for specific purposes),  teaching business skills and preparing learners for exams  (Cambridge main and business suites, IELTS, TOEIC).

For over fifteen years Catrin has also been a CELTA tutor on intensive and extensive courses both online and face to face.

Beyond the classroom she has worked in materials development, course design, conducted company-wide language audits, run CPD sessions for her colleagues, and been both Course Director and Director of Studies.

Catrin has the Cambridge RSA Diploma in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language to Adults and is hoping to embark on a Master's in TESOL and Linguistics.
