Role
Dr Sergio Vidal is a Senior Lecturer in Spanish and has module leader responsibilities for Introduction to Spanish Society and Culture, Introduction to Cultural Representation in Spain, and Culture and Society in the 20th c. in Spain. He is the team leader the final year dissertations in Spanish and also supervises works on contemporary Spanish culture and society.
Career overview
Dr Vidal completed his PhD at the University of Nottingham (2014) where he worked as a Teaching Associate in the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies (2009-2015). He also worked as a Lecturer at the University of Mechnikov in Odessa, Ukraine, as part of the program of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (2006-2009), and as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Petro Moguila in Mykolayiv, Ukraine (2006-2009).
Research areas
His research activity is focused on Contemporary Hispanic Narrative, especially novel, testimonial writing and literary journalism, Literary Theory and Comparative Literature, with special attention to the interconnections in cross-genre and interdisciplinarity in Contemporary Narrative. He has written on the limits and intersections on contemporary narrative and studied the works of authors such as Javier Cerca. He has also written on one of the most relevant Spanish literary magazine during francoism, Revista Española.
