Role

James Thornton, having graduated from NTU in 1981, has had a 40 year plus career in property spent with JLL, Savills and Mayfair Capital, an FCA regulated property fund management business he co-founded in 2002. Inter alia, this business manages a specialist fund enabling charities to invest in property on a diversified basis, the Property Income Trust for Charities. Assets under management exceed £2bn.

James held the roles of CIO, CEO (prior to the sale of Mayfair Capital to Swiss Life Asset Managers in 2016) and is currently Non-Executive Chairman. He is also a Non-Executive Director of the CT Property Trust, a listed investment company.

James chairs the Charity Investors Group and sits on the Cazenove Capital Charity Authorised Investment Funds Advisory Committee.
