I am the Couse Leader for the BA Joint Honours Business Management & Marketing – NBS’ largest undergraduate course. As such, I am responsible for recruitment, progression and retention of students as well as for their welfare while with us. I ensure the currency and the effectiveness of the Course. I also need to enthuse, cajole and persuade various colleagues to help to make the Course successful. As a Module Leader, I ensure that the content of the module is relevant, up-to-date and research-driven, as well as developing and providing teaching materials to the team. I am also a member of the University’s Validation and Services Subcommittee which oversees the provision of degrees delivered by other institutions. Externally, I am an active member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing – and also an examiner on its Marketing Communications module, and an external Examiner at the Universities of Bedford and Sunderland.
Over a 25-year career in business I rose from being a marketing assistant to director of a division of a major consumer organisation. My experiences inform my teaching as I was able to travel extensively and learn many skills such as negotiation, brand management and leadership. I am fluent in German and French and have a working knowledge of Spanish.
