Role

Alison is the Leader for the new FDA Business course at our Mansfield site.  As such, Alison is responsible for recruitment, progression and retention of students as well as for their welfare while with us, as well as ensuring the currency and the effectiveness of the Course. Alison also need to enthuse, cajole and persuade various colleagues to make the Course successful.  As a Module Leader in the Marketing Division in Nottingham Business School, Alison ensures that the content of my module is relevant, up-to-date and research-driven, as well as developing and providing teaching materials to the team.  Alison is also a member of various University committees which oversee the provision of degrees we deliver.

Career overview

Over a 25-year career in business Alison rose from being a marketing assistant to director of a division of a major consumer organisation. Her experiences inform her teaching as she was able to travel extensively and learn many skills such as negotiation, brand management and leadership. Alison is fluent in German and French and has a working knowledge of Spanish.

Research areas

Alison's Doctorate was in the field of Sustainable education.  She now wishes to develop a better understanding of students and intends to develop research in this area.

External activity

Externally, Alison is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing – and also an external Examiner at the Universities of Bedford and Westminster. She has also been an external verifier on various business courses at several other Universities.
