Role

Ann is the Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) course in Accounting and Finance. She is also an Academic Mentor for some of the Year One students and the module leader for the Taxation and Further Taxation modules. Her main specialisms are Performance Management and tax.

She is currently an examiner for a Professional Accountancy body on a Performance Management paper.

Career overview

Ann’s undergraduate degree is in Law and she subsequently passed her Solicitor’s professional exams before going on to train as a Chartered Accountant in the audit department at Coopers & Lybrand (now part of Price Waterhouse Coopers) in the early 90s. She later worked in the tax department at KPMG. She began teaching in the private sector, training accountants to sit their professional exams. She has also been an examiner for one of the Professional Accountancy bodies since 2003 on three different papers: a Financial Management paper, a Financial Accounting paper and a Performance Management one. She has also been actively involved in testing and rolling out online marking systems over the years and, more latterly, computer based exam writing systems. In her role as examiner, she has written a large number of articles for students and recorded several webinars.

Outside of this role, she has also written and delivered bespoke courses for non-financial managers of start-up businesses.
