Role

Dr Konstantina (Nadia) Kougiannou is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at Nottingham Business School. Prior to joining NTU in 2012 she was working as a teaching assistant at Durham University Business School while studying for her PhD.

She teaches at doctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate levels and her teaching encompasses organisational behaviour, human resource management, employee relations and research methods.

Research areas

Nadia is currently investigating the impact trust and justice have on the operation and effectiveness of Information and Consultation (I&C) bodies; the impact of app-work on employee voice, working conditions and the employment relationship; and employer practices and employee reactions in complex and challenging contexts, such as economic recession. She is also part of a research team that is exploring the role of line managers in the employee engagement. She has published in international journals including the Human Resource Management Journal, British Journal of Management and Journal of Business Research.

Nadia is currently supervising several doctoral students who explore topics within her research areas and is willing to supervise doctoral candidates with an organisational behaviour and/or human resource management interest.

  • A member of the British Academy of Management, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the Academy of Management and the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology.

Career overview

Nadia has a background in social anthropology, HRM, organisational behaviour and industrial relations. She holds degrees in Social Anthropology (BA) from University of Athens, Human Resource Management (MSc) and a PhD in Organisational Behaviour and Employment Relations from Durham University. Before starting her academic career, Nadia worked for a number of years in a managerial role in Athens, Greece.

Before joining NTU, Nadia was working as a teaching assistant at Durham University Business School while studying for her PhD.

Research areas

Nadia is currently investigating the impact trust and justice have on the operation and effectiveness of Information and Consultation (I&C) bodies; the impact of multi-foci justice on counter-productive work behaviour (CWB); and the effect of organisational decisions on community (as a stakeholder) and onrganisational trust. She is also part of a research team that is exploring the role of line managers in employee engagement.
