Role

Louise is a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Management, the Nottingham Business School Standards and Quality Manager (SQM) and a member of the School Quality Team.

As School Standards and Quality Manager, Louise takes a lead role in the development and implementation of the School's quality management and enhancement strategy. As a member of the School Quality Team she supports the Head of Accreditations and Quality in developing the internal quality assurance and accreditation systems.  Louise is a member of the School Academic Standards and Quality Committee, and School Executive (Themed), and leads the Departmental Quality Representatives Group within the School.  At University level, Louise Chair’s the University Collaborations and Partnerships Sub-committee, and in that role is a member of the University Academic Standards and Quality Committee.  She also contributes to other aspects of quality management, course approval, other panel membership and consideration of staff research ethical approval across the University as required. She also contributes to the activities of the Trent Institute for Learning and Teaching.

Louise is the joint Subject Group Head for Operations, Project & Supply Chain Management (OPSCM) within the Management Department, and provides support to the Head of Department through involvement in, for example, staff appraisals, observation of colleague’s teaching and mentoring new colleagues. She teaches entrepreneurship and operations management, and supervises research projects at undergraduate level.  Louise is an experienced teacher interested in quality management in higher education, pedagogy and developing student engagement.

Career overview

Louise began her career at NTU in 1993 working in Nottingham Business School, and then moved to a quality management role in the Registry.  She worked in a variety of quality management roles in different teams at University level, initially with a particular focus on collaborative provision and travelled widely internationally on behalf of the University developing and quality assuring transnational education arrangements.

Louise became a Principal Lecturer in Education in 2009, teaching across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate education studies courses with a specialism in higher education, and was the School Standards and Quality Manager in Education.   Louise moved to become a Principal Lecturer in Management in 2016.
