Role

Nicola is a currently a lecturer, module leader and academic mentor within the department of HRM at NTU.

As the module leader for Managing Culture Across Borders and Exploring HRM, Nicola takes the lead to develop content that is based upon interweaving her extensive operational knowledge with academic theory. Applying real life scenarios and interactive tasks to embed theory has proved a success with high Evasys student feedback being given. She has recently achieved the status of Fellow with the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) through this application and delivery to her teaching.

As an academic mentor to first year students and the associated delivery of the PAD module, Nicola works hard to build the foundations of knowledge of university life along with the expectations from business.

Career overview

Nicola has previously lectured at Leicester's De Montfort University leading CIPD accredited modules within their HRM Level 7 course, International Business and Undergraduate employability courses whilst also delivering guest lectures, masterclasses and modules on an international scale. Nicola has completed a TEF Gold tour across Malaysia delivering masterclasses on change management and leadership while annually she continues to visit a partnered university in China, delivering a Managing People, Operations and Resources module to the third-year students. This international application enriches her teaching on all cultural based subjects, extending her personal development within the education sector whilst enabling her to share knowledge by assisting in the developing HR practitioners of the future, which in turn keeps her CPD live and assisted with achieving the level of Chartered Membership within the CIPD (MCIPD). 

A HR professional that has experiences across both public and private sectors, ranging from operational management, HR, recruitment and private consultancy, Nicola strives to continually develop herself and those around her.  With extensive experiences within HR cemented by qualifications, she has managed an independent HR Consultancy: Dragonfly HR Ltd: supporting and deliver Change Management projects and Business Development for companies aiming to bridge the gap by injecting and aligning HR strategy within their organisation. Supporting engagement whilst ensuring best practice and legislation is adhered to. Delivering successful contracts for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, DMU, Loughborough College, 3M, VOLT, Vacancy Filler and Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust among other SME's.
