Nottingham Business School

Staff Group(s)
Department of Human Resource Management

Role

Tolulope is a Principal Lecturer and the Programme Leader for the Business Management and Human Resources course at Nottingham Business School. In this role, he works closely with the Head of Undergraduate Studies and the Head of the Human Resource Department to ensure that the course curriculum remains current, relevant and aligned with the school’s strategic direction. The curriculum is reviewed and refreshed regularly, drawing on research insights and real practice to create a meaningful learning experience for students.

To support these goals, Tolulope leads a team of dedicated colleagues who work together to ensure that students receive the academic and personal support they need throughout their studies. This includes providing guidance to student groups and individuals, and ensuring that learning is firmly informed by research and contemporary organisational practice.

A key part of Tolulope’s contribution is his leadership of the NBS Level 4 mentoring programme, which provides first year students with valuable transferable skills that support both personal and professional development. This mentoring ethos is also embedded within the final year module he leads, Developing Professional Impact, where students receive structured support to build confidence, workplace readiness and prepare for their next steps beyond university.

Tolulope is also committed to advancing equity and inclusion. He actively supports efforts to improve the attainment of ethnic minority students through his involvement in the NBS Black Leadership Programme and other university initiatives aimed at fostering fair and empowering learning environments.

With scholarly interests in organisational learning, knowledge management, people performance and wellbeing, Tolulope contributes to the development of colleagues through coaching and mentoring activities designed to strengthen professional skills and capabilities. Alongside this internal work, he builds meaningful partnerships with industry to co-create research-informed solutions that address real organisational challenges.

Career overview

Before joining Nottingham Trent University in 2015, Tolulope was a lecturer at the National Open University of Nigeria, where he contributed to the development of course materials for undergraduate students in Business Management. He also served as Coordinator for the Executive MBA programmes, where he developed and facilitated modules in Organisation Behaviour for senior professionals enrolled in the programme.

Tolulope’s experience extends beyond academia. He has worked in several strategic roles within the financial and manufacturing sectors in Nigeria, gaining practical insight into how organisations operate and make decisions. He was the co-founder and company director of Ella Enterprise, a logistics business in Nigeria, and also served as a consultant to Aella Financial Solutions Limited on matters relating to business investment.

These varied professional experiences place Tolulope in a unique position.
