Role

Charlotte is a Senior Lecturer in Academic Practice who leads the course team and the curriculum design and development of the Level 7 Academic Professional Apprenticeship/ Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. She works with new members of staff, supporting them to develop their teaching practice and achieve Fellowship of Advance HE.

Career overview

Charlotte joined NTU in June 2022 as a Lecturer in Academic Practice supporting colleagues on the APA/PGCLTHE. Upon gaining her Senior Fellowship with Advanced HE, Charlotte became a Senior Lecturer in Academic Practice in September 2023. Since joining the team, Charlotte has introduced a number of innovative initiatives which has enhanced the experience of the colleagues on the course including the KSVB Clinic Podcast series and the PGCert Cafe.

Charlotte started her career in education as a Communication Support Worker for D/deaf and hard of hearing learners giving her a unique perspective in educational access which lead her to taking a Graduate Teaching Diploma in 2012. Charlotte has taught on a number of courses with varied student demographics including, English Literature, English Language, Sociology of Education, and Creative Writing.

Due to her extensive teaching experience, Charlotte has been and continues to be a mentor for new staff entering education. She is also sought out as an expert on behaviour management strategies and employing in action differentiation.

Research areas

Charlottes' PhD research is focused on lived experiences and the materiality of tertiary education and is based at the University of Northampton. She has presented at internationally recognisied conferences on her work.
