Career overview

Nicky studied at University of Nottingham (French Studies) and Loughborough University (Information Technology, specialising in Ergonomics). She worked for a US computer network company prior to joining Nottingham Trent University in September 1996, 27 years ago, as Course Assistant for the BA Graphic Design course.

Nicky worked within the School of Art and Design for 25 years as subject administrator, during this time Nicky saw many changes at NTU, such as means of communication; memos sent through internal mail now replaced by emails, use of noticeboards for conveying teaching sessions now in the form of online timetables, however, the immense sense of fulfilment from guiding students throughout their journey from induction to graduation has never waivered, particularly raising their awareness and access to appropriate support to help them achieve their outcomes.

In her role in subject administration Nicky developed a keen interest in standards and quality particularly relating to Course Committees and examination boards and how CADQ interacts with Schools with respect to quality management. This became the driving force to Nicky taking up her role within CADQ.

Nicky received a Long Service Award in October 2021 in recognition of her 25 years with NTU.
