Role
William leads the Impact and Evaluation Workstream, co-leads the Student Engagement and Transition Workstream and is the Educational Development contact for Nottingham Business School.
Career overview
With a career spanning multiple Third Space and teaching roles in Higher Education across the UK and Ireland, Williams work regularly centres on partnership in multiple formats —how collaborative relationships between educator and learner can transform teaching and learning, both inside and outside the classroom. William is especially passionate about how partnership and peer approaches can democratise education and reimagine traditional roles in academia.
At The University of Manchester, William led the internationally recognised Peer Support programme, supporting over 2,000 student leaders as academic facilitators, and developed student-staff partnership initiatives that influenced curriculum and policy.
His time in Ireland (Munster Technological University) provided William with opportunity to develop further as an academic developer, managing institutional teaching and learning enhancement funding, whilst co-leading our €155,000 RAFT (Reimagining Assessment and Feedback Together) project, and developing programmes for early-career academics, and senior academic leaders.
The interest in evaluation continues at NTU, where William enables others to consider how they evaluate their educational initiatives. William is currently leading a project to develop postgraduate micro-credentials for all staff involved in teaching and learning.
External activity
William is affiliated to the European Centre for SI-PASS (Lund University, Sweden), where he supports institutions across Europe in implementing, training, and evaluating this internationally-recognised and quality-assured model of academic peer learning. these programmes.
