Role

Catherine Johnson is a Research Quality Coordinator working in the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre (JvGCRC) on NTUs Clifton Campus. Her role consists of implementing and auditing research standards to improve research quality.

She is also the NTU HTA Research Licence Quality Officer, offering guidance and assistance to the Designated Individual (DI), the Persons Designated (PDs) and the HTA technician  on all matters relating to quality control.

Catherine also assists the JvGCRC lab manager and safety representative with matters relating to health and safety including risk assessments, COSHH, staff and student inductions, first aid (Catherine is a trained First Aider).

Career overview

Catherine previously worked as a research assistant in the JvGCRC as part of the immunology and vaccine development group and has knowledge of immunology techniques such as Flow Cytometry, ELISA, Cell Culture, Blood sample processing, and Immunohistochemistry.

Research areas

Catherine's work is focussed on the implementation and auditing of a Quality Management System for academic research. She plans to introduce the ideas to the rest of the School of Science and Technology research groups.
