Role

Catherine Johnson is a Health and Safety and Quality Standards Officer working in the School of Science and Technology (SST) on NTUs Clifton Campus. Her role includes carrying out safety inspections, compliance checks, inductions, DSE assessments as well as creating SOPs and training content and managing the SST health and safety SharePoint site.

She recently completed the Biosafety Practitioner course to become an accredited biosafety practitioner.

Catherine is the administrative lead for the SST QA Committee curating agendas and taking minutes for the monthly meetings.

She is also the NTU HTA Research Licence Quality Officer, offering guidance and assistance to the Designated Individual (DI), the Persons Designated (PDs) and the HTA technician on all matters relating to quality control and organising and completing internal audits three times a year, producing reports and CAPAs for the PDs to action.

Catherine is a trained first aider.

Career overview

Catherine previously worked as the research quality coordinator for the JvGCRC, implementing a quality management system for the research groups based on ISO9001 and the RQA quality management for research laboratories guidance.

Prior to that Catherine worked as a research assistant in the JvGCRC as part of the immunology and vaccine development group and has knowledge of immunology techniques such as Flow Cytometry, ELISA, Cell Culture, Blood sample processing, and Immunohistochemistry.

Catherine is focussed on improving safety and research quality culture in SST, standardising approaches, training and documentation for more consistent results.
