Research areas

Catherine’s MA dissertation had a focus on Evidence Based Practice – comparative study between MAT schools and Local Authority schools to unpick use of and attitudes to the use of research evidence to inform best practice. Also comparing the views of class teachers and senior leaders.

She is very interested in comparative education and has previously researched the impact of conflict on education with a focus on the impact of the war on Ukraine during her MA.

She has researched into Inclusive PE and is keen to develop this further, connecting with local special schools to explore their provision for a range of needs in PE.

She has previously researched the use of outsourcing in PE and the impact on teacher confidence and opportunity to teach PE. Something that has informed some of the things she has been developing to ensure NTU provision provides opportunities for our trainees to implement learning in PE into a practical situation on placement, with a focus on year 2.
