Role
Liz Ruston is a Senior Lecturer and works within the Primary Education team. She leads the School Direct Placement liaising closely with Teaching School Alliances, school mentors and trainees. She is also a University Link Tutor on the BA Primary Education course. In addition to teaching on the the School Direct course, Liz teaches on several modules on the BA Primary Education course, leads the Curriculum and Pedagogical Studies module for Year 1 and teaches Art within the wider curriculum strand of this module.
Career overview
Prior to joining NTU Liz taught in several Primary Schools in Rotherham LA, taking on her first Headship at Rawmarsh Ashwood Primary School in her seventh year of teaching. Following her move to a second Headship, she worked for Rotherham LA as a Consultant Headteacher, supporting leadership teams to secure improved progress and outcomes for learners. Her third Headship involved taking on the leadership of a large primary school in Doncaster LA which also had a two year old provision.
