Role

Sarah Macdonald is a Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Law School. She teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Her area of expertise is Tort and Dispute Resolution.

Sarah teaches Tort to undergraduate students and is joint module leader for this. She is also Deputy Course Leader for the LLB Law with Criminology, and the LLB Law with Psychology courses at Nottingham Law School.

At post graduate level, Sarah teaches civil litigation, writing, drafting and research on the Legal Practice Course, both full and part time. She also teaches Dispute Resolution on the Solicitors Qualifying Examination preparation courses. Sarah is joint module leader for the full and part-time SQE 1 Dispute Resolution module. Sarah is also joint module leader for the LLM element of both the LPC and the SQE, co-ordinating dissertations, electives and placements (with Support Through Court).

Sarah was very proud to receive the Student-Led Teaching Awards in 2024 for Outstanding Teaching Staff at Nottingham Law School, nominated and voted for by the NTU Student body.

Career overview

Sarah Joined Nottingham Law School in January 2022, having previously worked as a solicitor, specialising in Civil Litigation. Sarah is an alumni of Nottingham Law School, having completed her LLB (Sandwich) degree in 2008 and Legal Practice Course in 2009. After graduating Sarah worked in law firms in the East Midlands and went on to qualify as a Solicitor with Browne Jacobson LLP. Over the years Sarah has acted for both Claimant and Defendants in civil litigation. After 16 years in industry Sarah returned to Nottingham Law School to Lecture in Law. She is currently a non-practising solicitor. Sarah has now furthered her teaching expertise by obtaining Fellowship of Advance HE.
