Joe Egan teaches guitar as part of the NTU Music team.

Career overview

Getting his musical start playing in rock bands Joe’s love of improvising soon drew him to the jazz music of Jim Hall and Wayne Shorter. He followed this passion and chose to study for his degree under Ulrich Elbracht and Stuart McCallum at Leeds College of Music.

Joe’s broad base of experience performing in rock, pop and jazz settings make him a well placed tutor to help any guitarist find their voice. 

Alongside his work as an educator Joe performs, writes and produces music in a number of bands and as a solo artist. These include jazz crossover trio Major Ruse who have received national radio play on BBC 6Music have performed live at Love Supreme, Jazz Café Camden and Giles Peterson’s We Out Here festival.
