Between the mid-noughties and the end of 2022, Dr Beardah acted as Undergraduate Courses Manager for NTU's Mathematics provision and then spent over 11 years as Academic Team Leader / Head of the Physics and Mathematics Department within the School of Science and Technology.  Having stepped down as HoD at the end of 2022, he now teaches on the Foundation Year module Intermediate Mathematics, the final year module Numerical Analysis and Dynamical Systems, supervises final year Projects in Mathematics, and acts as a Personal Tutor.

Current non-teaching activities are evolving, but are likely to concentrate on student support, admissions and various teaching-related initiatives, such as Departmental peer observation. Past areas of scholarly activity have included:

  • Computational applied statistics: the use of advanced date analytic and visualisation methods when applied to archaeological data. In particular Kernel Density Estimation, Compositional Data Analysis and Mixed-mode Data Analysis.
