Role
Craig Strong is the senior lecturer for Sport Science and Management programme. Craig currently leads the level six Entrepreneurship and Enterprise module (SPOR30102), supporting final year students to develop their own business venture.
In addition, Craig is the module leader for Commercialisation in Sport, on the Sports Management Masters Degree programme. The content of the module will allow the post-graduate students to work alongside the commercial and marketing departments at Nottingham Forest FC, Nottingham racecourse and Trent Bridge.
Previously, Craig was programme leader for the Sport Science and Management undergraduate degree between 2019-2023, whilst also taking the role of Work Placement Supervisor for Sport Science department (2018-2023), which was to support sandwich course students with their placements and to helping 2nd year students to gain their internships.
In 2022, Craig successfully achieved his Senior Fellowship for the Higher Education Academy and gained his PhD in Emotional Intelligence in 2024.
Career overview
Professional, Craig has has worked at NTU for over nine years, previously Honorarium and Course Leader in HE of Sport at Heart of Worcestershire College. Prior to this he was Marketing Director at Sweet Causes Ltd for six years. He started his career working in the private health and fitness industry, with Esporta, David Lloyd and Fitness First.
From his entrepreneurial background, Craig has invested and collaborated in several UK businesses over the past ten years.
Research areas
Craig completed his PhD thesis in 2024, researching how Emotional Intelligence for teachers enhance the delivery of primary Physical Education in the UK.
In addition, he has conducted research exploring the benefits of what students gained when studying on a sandwich course pathway. This has been collaborated with Dr. Ellie Nesbitt.
Finally, Craig is a member of the Sport Science and Sociology Research Committee and the sport Science and Equality & Diversity Committee.
